GST impact on SAP MM, SD, and FICO
What is GST in India?

The GST is a Value added Tax (VAT) is proposed to be a comprehensive indirect tax levy on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods as well as services at the national level. It will replace all indirect taxes levied on goods and services by the Indian Central and state governments.

Impact of GST would be in terms of booking liability of taxes and their utilisation. Now once GST is formally materialised (from July 1 or so), barring some categories of products, CIN would be obsolete which means there would be no Excise duty or Local taxes like VAT or CST or Octroi. Such taxes and duties would be subsumed under GST.

There would be three different condition types for CGST , SGST and IGST in case of outgoing or incoming i.e. SD / MM that would need to be configured. Such condition types would allow business to book GST in outgoing or incoming business transactions. Once booked then utilisation would also be carried out against available input of tax credit.

Business processes that would see impact of GST -
1.Sales process
2.Procurement process
3.Stock transfer process

1.Input CGST would be utilised against output CGST & SGST.
2.Input SGST would be utilised against output SGST & IGST.
